In short: Social landlords in England must meet the Decent Homes Standard. For kitchens, that means a reasonably modern kitchen (generally no more than 20 years old) with adequate space and layout, in good repair and free of serious hazards. Social landlords must also deal with damp and mould hazards within set timescales under Awaab's Law. If your kitchen is unsafe or falling apart, report it in writing and escalate through your landlord's complaints process and then the Housing Ombudsman.
