In short: Letting agents and property managers in England must belong to a government-approved redress scheme, such as The Property Ombudsman or the Property Redress Scheme. If you have a complaint, raise it with the agent first using their complaints procedure. If it isn't resolved, you can take it to their redress scheme free of charge, within its time limits. The scheme can require apologies, actions or compensation. Letting agents must also have client money protection. Fraser Bond is a member of a redress scheme and handles complaints promptly.
