In short: If you sent money to the wrong account by mistake, tell your bank straight away. Your bank must contact the receiving bank, which should contact the recipient and, if they don't respond or agree, may provide their details so you can take action. Banks don't have to refund your mistake, but they must help. If you were tricked into it, it's a scam and the APP reimbursement rules may apply instead. Confirmation of Payee checks help prevent mistakes. Fraser Bond is a property agency, not a recovery firm; this is independent guidance.
