In short: Updating your own name after marriage or a deed poll is simple: apply to HM Land Registry with form AP1 and evidence such as a marriage certificate. Changing who owns the property, such as adding a partner or removing an ex, is a transfer of equity, using form TR1, which needs mortgage lender consent and may trigger stamp duty if the new owner takes on debt or pays money. Use a solicitor for transfers, especially with a mortgage.
