In short: If you rent a council flat, you can't sublet the whole home or move out and let it to someone else: unlawful subletting of social housing is a criminal offence and can lead to losing your home and prosecution. Fraser Bond does not offer rent guarantees for council tenancies. If you own an ex-council flat on a long lease (for example, bought under Right to Buy), you can usually let it, subject to your lease, mortgage and any council restrictions, and we can let and manage it, including guaranteed-rent options where available.
