In short: A lettings negotiator finds homes for tenants and tenants for landlords: booking and leading viewings, taking applications, negotiating offers, arranging referencing and preparing tenancies. Strong communication, organisation, a driving licence in many offices, and knowledge of lettings law are key. Pay is usually a basic salary plus commission. Propertymark qualifications help, and rules such as the 2026 Renters' Rights reforms mean compliance knowledge matters more than ever. Progression can lead to senior negotiator, branch manager or property manager.
